It was only poignant that Marta Unzué and Laura Ràfols lifted the Copa de la Reina in their last game as blaugranes. The trophy was won after a tight contest with Atlético Madrid that went into extra time and was won in the 122nd minute thanks to a goal from Mariona.

The final of the competition was played in Mérida in front of no less than 12,000 fans. The first half was a tight affair with the side from Madrid coming close to opening the scoring with Ludmila forcing an excellent save from Barça keeper Sandra Paños.

The first half ended goalless with Alexia Putellas as the stand performer in the opening 45 minutes for the blaugranes. In the second half the script remained the same. Barça stiker Duggan went close just after the hour mark, Atlético keeper Lola making an excellent save. With just under 10 minutes to go Vicky Losada struck the woodwork only for Lieke Martens to do the same five minutes later.

With the game goalless at 90 minutes, the cup final went into extra time. Patri and Martens had chances to win the game for the blaugranes but it seemed it was not to be for Barça. Nevertheless, in the very last minute of extra time a move involving Martens and Andonova ended with Mariona grabbing an emotional winner to hand FC Barcelona Women their just rewards after another excellent season under coach Fran Sánchez.
