A day full of excitement for Pere Romeu, who officially signed his contract extension with FC Barcelona until 2028 with a smile on his face. The ceremony took place at the Spotify Camp Nou offices, where the women's team coach expressed his delight at being able to do the job he loves at the club he has supported all his life, while remaining ambitious to continue adding to the success of a team with great ambitions.

On this emotional day, Romeu was joined by FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta, Board member responsible for women's football Xavi Puig, and fellow Board member Àngel Riudalbàs. His family was also in attendance.

Following an enormously rewarding spell at the club, the coach spoke of his pride at continuing at Barça: "I love my job, I love what I do, and being able to do it at my lifetime club, at home, with such an incredibly professional coaching staff and such talented and competitive players, is more than enough reason to renew my contract. My day-to-day life here couldn't be better."

Reasons for staying

Romeu's winning mentality remains as strong as ever looking ahead to the future. The coach highlighted the excellent relationship he enjoys with the club's structure and the importance of maintaining the team's competitive standards: "The club has great faith in me" he continued. "I'm very happy working here. There are many reasons why I've decided to stay. We're on the right track. I'm very excited and highly motivated to take on the next two seasons."

The coach is fully aware that sustaining success requires the squad to keep evolving. With that in mind, he explained that work is already being done to strengthen the team: "Every season presents a difficult challenge. Things happen in every transfer window, but the team always moves forward. The sporting management, myself and the club are all doing everything possible to bring in players who will maintain the competitive standards we want."

One of the key priorities over the next few seasons will be helping young talents: "From day one there will be players who will need to step up. They're young footballers who are ready to play in the biggest matches in Europe, but they need to establish themselves to provide that continuity."

Another essential ingredient in staying ahead of the competition is preserving the team's winning mentality: "We can't lose the competitive mentality and the winning mentality that sets us apart from everyone else. We'll continue to be a force to be reckoned with."

Romeu concluded by calling for everyone to remain united in the pursuit of more silverware for the club's trophy cabinet: "We'll continue training with the same ambition and competing with the same enthusiasm. If the club, the sporting management, the fans, the coach and the players all pull together, we'll continue enjoying outstanding seasons."
