Made his debut for the first team at Everton at the age of 16 in a Europa League match, before going on to make his Premier League debut at 18. From that moment his talent was obvious, as well as the qualities that he has shown throughout his career. After four-and-a-half seasons with Everton, including a year on loan at Preston North End, he took the next step on his footballing journey.

After being a key member of the squad at Everton and helping the Premier League club avoid relegation, he moved to a side in search of Champions League football, Newcastle United, in January 2023. In his first season with the Magpies, he ended the campaign with 12 goals and 10 assists and was named player of the season, following in the footsteps of the likes of Paul Gascoigne, Alan Shearer, and Andy Cole.  

After three seasons in the north-east of England, Gordon joined Barça in the summer of 2026. 

On an international level, after representing England at youth level, the winger made his debut for the senior side in March 2024. That summer he appeared in the European Championships, and in 2026 he was in the World Cup squad for the tournament in the USA, Mexico and Canada. Gordon was a key man in Thomas Tuchel's plans, providing three assists during the tournament. He scored the opening goal in the semifinal against Argentina, before Leo Messi and his teammates came back late on to eliminate England.
