Xavi Espart has been at Barça since the summer of 2015 when he joined from UE Vilassar de Mar as an U8 player. He went through the youth categories quickly, reaching the U19 squad where he operated mainly as a full back. 

Espart is a versatile midfielder who can play in the centre of midfield or in a wider position, and he can also operate in defence.  In the 2024/25 season, even though he was an U19 still, Espart made his debut with Barça Atlètic on August 31, 2024, away at Andorra. Throughout the season, he occasionally was involved with Barça Atlètic, making six appearances, one of them as a starter. In the 2025/26 season, he was one of the captains of the squad despite still being an U19, making 14 appearances for Juliano Belletti's team. His performances caught the eye of first team coach Hani Flick and he made his debut for the first in the Champions League last 16 tie against Newcastle United. Espart ended the campaign having made six appearances in total for the first team, four in the league and two in the Champions League. 

In the summer of 2026 he won the U19 European Championships with the Spain squad and then joined the first team's preseason campaign. After impressing once again, he was incorporated into the first team at the start of the 2026/27 campaign.
