Uruguayan defender, strong in the air and capable with the ball at his feet

Ronald Araujo was born in Rivera, Uruguay, on 7 March 1999. The young central defender began playing professionally for his hometown team, and later joined the lower categories at Rentistas in the Uruguayan Second Division.

Araujo stood out in his country and Boston River signed him. After one year playing in Montevideo and gaining experience in the Uruguayan top flight, he signed a five-year contract with Barça B on 29 August 2018 with a buy out clause of 100 million euros, going up to 200 million if he joins the first team squad. For the 2020/21 season the defender became part of the FC Barcelona first team squad winning his first trophy at the Club, the Copa del Rey.

In his second season at the club, Ronald Araujo proves to be a player of the present and future, becoming one of the key players in the team’s defense. Thanks to his strong winning character and his defensive (and also offensive) talent, the Uruguayan center-back becomes one of the most loved players by the fans.
In the 21/22 season he definitely becomes one of the most important players in Barça's defense. The Uruguayan defender plays more than 3,000 minutes and consolidates himself as one of the best defenders in the world adapting even to play as a full-back when the team requires it. He scored 4 goals, one of them, possibly the most remembered, in el clásico at the Bernabéu.

Strong center-back, with dominance of both legs and great control in the air play. His additions to the attack make him very important in the team's aerial game. It has a great future projection.
