Barça B have beaten Santfeliuenc FC 1-0 in their second preseason friendly, three days after setting the ball rolling with a 6-0 rout of Escala. The side coached by Gerard López played in front of a sizeable crowed that braved the searing heat at the Ciutat Esportiva.

The starting line-up featured Sergi Puig, Morer, Cucurella, Fali, Tarín, Chumi, Campins, Busquets, Marc, Paik and Lee, with only Fali, Campins, Paik and Lee repeating from Wednesday’s game and six of the components being extracted from the U19 team. Jon Bakero, son of the legendary captain of the Dream Team, José Mari Bakero, was not included, and neither were the 13 players that are training with the first team.

Both goals were scored in the first 45 minutes. The first was the work of new acquisition Marc Cardona after just eleven minutes, who took his first chance of the game with style. Nine minutes later and a fine one-two involving South Korean Paik and his compatriot Lee made it two to the FCB reserves.

López changed everyone apart from Chumi, Fali, Campins and Lee for the restart, the eleven thus consisting of Josep Martínez, Montes and Guillemenot of the U19 team and Barça B’s Palencia, Chumi, Fali, Moisés, Sarsanedas, Morer, Vilanova and Xemi.

The Blaugrana continued to dominate and had a third goal disallowed for supposed handball by Guillemenot. Campins was especially active, breaking through the opposition’s defence on several occasions and supplying a series of excellent crosses.

The team was also outstanding in defence, with Sant Feliu failing to create meaningful chances in either half. All in all, it was very heartening performance indeed that shall now be followed by Sunday off and double training sessions on Monday.
