Born on 3 October 1996 in São Paulo, Brazil, before coming to Barça Matheus played for Corinthians back in his native country where he won the Super Cup, two Brazilian Cups, a Paulista Championship and two Paulista League title in his three seasons with the first team.
In the summer of 2020 Barça and Corinthians agreed the transfer of the Matheus Rodríguez Cézar da Silva, on a three year contract until 30 June 2023. In 2022, established as one of the mainstays of the futsal squad, the Brazilian extended his contract until June 2026. In the 2024/25 campaign Matheus played in every game for Barça and was particularly influential in the play-offs under coach Tino Pérez.
A left sided player who stands out for his power and goalscoring ability, Matheus also reads the game perfectly and has the ability to move the ball quickly.
