How did Messi reach a century of goals? | FCB

Few records escape the Barça number 10 and now reaching a century of goals in Europe’s premier club competition is the latest to fall. With his brace against Chelsea, Leo Messi now has reached another landmark figure and you can be sure that it will not be the last.

His 100th goal comes no less than 12 years after his first which came on November 2, 2005 against Greek side Panathinaikos. Messi has recorded 57 of his goals at Camp Nou, 41 away and 2 at neutral venues.

More than a few of those 100 goals have become part of FC Barcelona’s history.  His famous header in the Olympic Stadium in Rome in the final against Manchester United in 2009 is just one such example. Others include his five in one game against Bayer Leverkusen or his memorable strike in the semi-finals which started in midfield against Real Madrid.
