Samuel Araújo, known more commonly as Samu Araújo, was born on 9 December 1995 in Vigo. He joined his hometown club Celta at the age of 10. He was part of the of Celta U19 side that lost the UEFA Youth League final to Sevilla in 2013.

He got his first outing for Celta B on 27 October 2013, and made his first team debut under then-manager Eduardo Berizzo on 14 January 2015 against Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey. In the 2016/17 he featured 35 times for Celta B in the Segunda B. In his 96 games for the B side, he found the net twice.

Technical profile

Samu Araújo is a versatile defender who works hard. He can play both as a left back and in the centre of the defence. He’s adept at getting up and down the flank, and is powerful and strong in the air. He’s a very capable defender both in the defensive line and shutting down direct opponents.
