Aron Pálmarsson was born on 19 July 1990 in Hafnarfjordur, the third largest city in Iceland. He began his handball career with his home town club before moving to THW Kiel in 2009. With the German club in his six seasons he won two Champions Leagues and five league titles amongst other honours as he became one of the key figures in the team.
In the summer of 2015 he signed for Hungarian side Veszprém where he played the last two seasons under Catalan coach Xavi Sabaté and captained by former blaugrana Laszlo Nagy. At Vezprém he consolidated his position as one of the leading players in European handball before arriving at FC Barcelona in October 2017.
He comes to the Palau Blaugrana as one of the best players in the world in his position and at 27 years of age, he is at the peak of his powers. Pálmarsson completes the first line at Barça and to help the team to even greater success.
Pálmarsson is a leader out on the court. His position means that he is the starting points for the team’s attacks and his physical presence allows him to dominate all areas of the game. He is a strong player but also technically gifted.
