Matheus Fernandes Siqueira was born on June 30, 1998 in Itaboraí (Brazil). He arrived at Barça in the 2020 winter transfer market, but left on loan to Valladolid for half a season. The midfielder began his career in Botafogo's youth teams until, in 2016, he made his debut for the first team. In total, he played 76 games, in which he scored two goals and distributed four assists. In 2018, he won the Carioca championship before signing for Palmeiras in 2019.
For the São Paulo team he played a total of 11 games in which he scored one goal. As for the 'canarinha', Matheus Fernandes has participated in two games for the Brazilian U17 team and two more for the U20 side.
He stands out for being a player with a great defensive capacity as well as having the ability to split defences with his passing range. His ideal position and where he has played mainly is as a defensive midfielder, as a pivot in front of the back four. At 1.83 m tall, the Brazilian is well able to recover the ball and is a complete midfielder with a good right foot.
