Royal committed to giving his all for Barça

The new blaugrana, alongside president Joan Laporta, is clear about his desire to do his best for his new club

New signing Royal was the main character in the day's events at FC Barcelona with his official presentation as a blaugrana coming hot on the heels of his first training session as a Barça player.

After donning his work clothes in the morning at the Ciutat Esportiva, the Brazilian looked equally dapper in his suit and bootlace tie for the event at Camp Nou in the late afternoon.

Pen to paper and a change of clothes

First stop at the stadium was the President Suñol Box where the player signed his contract before the Brazilian international exchanged his pen for the Barça kit for the photograph with president Joan Laporta and his family, proudly wearing the shirt that bears his name, E.Royal.

Next it was the moment for Royal to make his first appearance at Camp Nou dressed as a Barça player, ball in hand and then at his feet. The obligatory kiss of the club badge was forthcoming in front of the cameras as the full back attempted to take it all in.

Work and more work

The São Paulo native returned to his suit and tie for the press conference following his appearance at Camp Nou. Royal stressed his desire to give his all for his new team. "Work is the commitment I have to Barça; the fans and the club's representatives," he said. "I am committed to doing my best to take advantage of this opportunity. I will work hard, respecting my team mates, to win a place in the team," he added.

The presentation also handed Royal the chance to pay tribute to his predecessors at FC Barcelona. "There are players who have made history at Barça, above all Dani Alves. He is my hero and a model for lots of people. I have spoken to him and he told me to keep working hard like I have been."

Of course, there was no escaping the name of Leo Messi, an opponent in the recent Copa América final. "He is the best in the world. I was sad to lose but happy for Messi as he deserved to win the trophy," confessed the Brazilian international.

To round off a busy day, E.Royal summed it up in Catalan by saying: "I am very happy to be in Barcelona."
