FC Barcelona picked up a vital 2-1 victory over Valencia at Camp Nou and that result means that they have now gone 39 games without defeat in La Liga and surpassed Real Sociedad’s record of 38 set between 1979 and 1980.

Ernesto Valverde’s Barça are unbeaten in their 32 league games this season in addition to the final seven league games of the previous one with Luis Enrique as coach.

Barça’s last defeat in La Liga came over a year ago, on 8 April 2017 against Málaga in La Rosaleda. In their following fixture their historic run began with a 3-2 win over Real Sociedad and since then they have gone almost a year to the day unbeaten in the competition.
