Barça recorded a heart-stopping 2-2 draw in the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán thanks to two late strikes in the space of a minute from Luis Suárez and Leo Messi. The result means that Ernesto Valverde’s team are now just 90 minutes away from equalling Real Sociedad’s league record of 38 games unbeaten set over two seasons in 1978/79 and 1979/80.

Barça are currently unbeaten in their 30 league games this season in addition to seven wins in a row at the end of the 2016/17 campaign. In fact, the blaugranes have not lost in La Liga since defeat against Málaga away from home on 8 April 2017, almost a year ago.

All eyes will now be on the game next Saturday at Camp Nou against Leganés in the league; a positive result will see them equal the 38-game record for the longest unbeaten run of matches.
