Ernesto Valverde during a match at the Camp Nou. | VICTOR SALGADIO - FCB

FC Barcelona are on fire in La Liga with their sixth win on the bounce away to Girona at the Montilivi stadium (0-3). The blaugranas are top of the league with 18 points from a possible 18. This brilliant start is Ernesto Valverde’s best as a manager in the league. His previous bests are four wins and two defeats for 12 points in both 2013/14 and 2016/17.

The wins allowed Barça to move to the top and stay there with successes against Betis (2-0), Aláves (0-2), Espanyol (5-0), Getafe (1-2), Eibar (6-1) and Girona (0-3). Moreover, the team has scored 20 and only condeded two during these six games. The points secured and the number of goals scored make this Valverde’s but also Barça’s best start if we only take into account the first six fixtures.

The blaugranas want to continue their excellent form to try and equal the Club’s historic record of eight wins from the opening eight La Liga games under Tata Martino in 2013/14.
