Premiership leaders end six-match win drought, while three points against Granada send FC Barcelona up to second after Sampaoli's side are held on the road

Manchester City, who host Barça in the Champions League on Tuesday night at 8.45pm CET, have managed to hold onto top spot in the Premiership (on goal difference ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool) after a comfortable 4-0 win at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday. Sergio Agüero and Ilkay Gündogan scored two each to end a run of six winless games for Pep Guardiola in three different competitions,

North of the border, Celtic are now ten points clear at the top of the Scottish table after a Tom Rogic goal secured 1-0 victory over second placed Aberdeen, on whom the Celts also have a game in hand.

The other side in Champions League Group C, Borussia Mönchengladbach, played their Bundesliga fixture on Friday night. That 0-0 draw at home to Eintracht Frankfurt means they are still languishing in the middle of the table.

Sevilla slip in Asturias

In La Liga, Barça move up to second with their 1-0 win against Granada this evening after Sevilla could only draw on their trip to Sporting Gijón. Vietto put the Andalusians ahead after just four minutes but Moi Gómez volleyed home an equaliser on the 20 minute mark. Sevilla battled hard to grab a winner, even hitting the post twice, but were ultimately thwarted by a formidable defensive display from the home side.

The win this evening moves Barça a point above Sevilla, who will be entertaining the Catalans next weekend and Atlético who beat Málaga 4-2 at the Calderón thanks to a brace a piece for Carrasco and Gameiro

Real Madrid, however, remain in top spot after becoming the first side to win at Alavés this season. A Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick and another strike from Morata secured a 4-1 win after Deyverson had put the Basques ahead in the seventh minute.
