Barça and Manchester City meet again this Tuesday on Match Day four of the group stage in this season’s Champions League, a game that could see Luis Enrique’s team in the last 16 of the competition should they pick up all three points. For Ivan Rakitic, the game will “very similar to the one at Camp Nou.” The Croatian international also stressed the need for the group to be united.

“For us it is important to be a strong family unit. When I say ‘family’ that’s because it’s how I feel,” the midfielder said. “We always travel with a smile, comfortable, from the number one who is Messi to the last, we have great respect for each other.”

The Barça number 4 sees the game as one the team need to approach “in the same way we did at Camp Nou….taking the game to them.”

On Manchester City Rakitic added: “The coach [Guardiola] has very clear ideas and they are a strong team so we have to take advantage of our good form to beat them.

“It will be a tough game with fast pace and we know that we have the chance to sew up the group and take the last two games in a more relaxed fashion.”

Rakitic could not help hide his admiration for the Manchester City boss, who left Barça before the Croatian’s arrival admitting that he chose the number 4 because of Pep before admitting: “If he can’t be my coach then I would at least like to have a coffee with him.”
