Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has described the upcoming game against FC Barcelona in the Champions League as “a final” for his team.

With their defeat at Camp Nou two weeks ago, another loss on Tuesday could complicate their chances of reaching the next stage, something which the former Barça boss stressed.

“What would I like to see? That we get three points which will give us more time to work. In just three months, it is impossible to be close to what we are looking for, but this duel is already like a final for us.”

“A 4-0 is a 4-0 and when you lose like this, you are left with what you need to learn from them and look to not make as many mistakes.

The Catalan coach also highlighted the need to be careful in possession “because Suárez, Neymar and Messi can be unstoppable”.

“We will try again, as we did before the red card (to Claudio Bravo), knowing that they are a strong team who will obligate us to play almost perfectly.”

Another former Barça man was representing City at the press conference in the form of Spanish international winger Nolito.

“If we want to reach the second round, we need a win. We have to beat Barça at some point and we will give it a go,” he said.

“Even though Barça arrive with many absentees, they have a great team and any player can cause us problems.”
