Congratulations are in order as the Barça Academy Dominican Republic have won the national U16s tournament organised by the Dominican Football Federation. The competition is part of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme and featured 36 teams. 

The tournament included 195 games, with first a regional group phase (North 1, North 2, East, Metropolitan and Santo Domingo), before a league phase with the teams that went through from the group stage, and then lastly home and away semifinals and finals. The first leg played in Jarabacoa ended 2-2 and the second leg ended 1-1. It was down to penalties to decide the winners and Barça Academy Dominican Republic scored all theirs while Jarabacoa FC missed their sixth penalty, meaning the blaugranes were crowned Dominican national champions.

Individual awards

In addition to the team celebrations, there was also individual recognition for two blaugrana players after the match, as Diego Pablo was named best player of the tournament and Ian Herrera was named as best goalkeeper.
