A legend is saying departing. Robert Lewandowski has announced that he will leave FC Barcelona at the end of the current season and, once the final two Liga matches have been played, the Polish striker will bring a four-year chapter to a close, a period he himself describes as “the most incredible chapter” of his career.
Lewandowski explained it all in an emotional farewell video posted on his social media channels, where, for just over a minute, he reflects on what Barça, Barcelona and Catalonia have meant to him. “My place on Earth,” he says. “I leave with the feeling that the mission has been accomplished,” explains a man who arrived at a club in the middle of a rebuilding process and now departs with “Barça back where it belongs.”
The striker also expressed his gratitude for the affection shown by the Barça supporters, saying he will never forget “the love I received from the very first day.” He also reserved special thanks for club president Joan Laporta “for giving me the opportunity to live the most incredible chapter of my career.”
And he closed with a heartfelt “Visca el Barça i Visca Catalunya,” further proof that the Polish superstar who arrived from Bayern Munich having already won everything leaves Barça with a little piece of Catalonia in his heart.
