Bayern 73-84 Barça: Commanding win in the EuroLeague

Barça win the first of two European games this week

Second EuroLeague win in a row for Barça, who started quietly before gradually taking control of the game, ultimately winning by 11 points.

Even start

Both teams came out slowly, with ineffective shooting a key factor. Bayern scored first through Rubit before errors in Barça's defence allowed the German side to open up a lead. However, two three-pointers from Laprovittola and Kalinic helped close out the first quarter tied.

Not much change in the second. Neither team was able to surmount their opponent's defence and the score remained close as a result. Then Saras Jasikevicius called a time out before two three-pointers from Abrines and a slam dunk from Vesely opened up a 7 point lead. Weiler-Babb scored a three-pointer to bring Bayern to within one point but a superb basket by Laprovittola meant Barça went in 3 points up at the break.

Attack leads the way

Barça attacked well after the break, three-pointers for Satoransky and Laprovittola (2), aided by two from Vesely, opening up the biggest lead at +12. Bayern threatened but were frustrated by Barça, whose attack became ever more dynamic during the quarter to ensure the lead.

The final quarter saw Bayern come out fighting and combined with Barça attacking less intensely, they managed to cut into the lead. All the same, a 10 point lead was managed and maintained for a commanding victory, final score 73-84.

Next up are Zalguiris Kaunas (7.00pm local time) on Thursday October 20, the second away game in the European competition this week.
