We have a winner for January's Goal of the Month competition. Leo Messi's stunning free kick against Athletic Club in La Liga at Camp has been chosen by the FC Barcelona website users' votes and what a fitting strike it is to claim the award. 

Messi's free kick pipped the other contenders which included another of the Argentine's goals against Athletic, this time at San Mamés, Dembélé's strike against Cornellà in the Copa del Rey and De Jong's goal in the semi final of the Spanish Super Cup. 

The Goal of the Month competition involves asking you the fans to vote every month via the FC Barcelona website for your best strike from the short list of four.
