FC Barcelona in the Copa del Rey: 13 semi finals in the last 15 seasons

Ronald Koeman's team reach the last four with a thrilling win over Granada after missing out last season

13 semi finals in the last 15 seasons. Quite an achievement

After beating Granada in extra-time (3-5), FC Barcelona have qualified for the semifinals of the Copa del Rey 2020/21. A year after losing in the quarterfinals at San Mamés, the Catalans will be among the last four teams in the tournament, something they've only failed to achieve in the aforementioned 2019/20 campaign and in 2009/10 across the last 15 seasons.

Let's take a look at Barça's Cup trajectory in the last 15 seasons :

  • 2020/21. For now, qualified for the semifinals.
  • 2019/20. Eliminated in the quarterfinals.
  • 2018/19. Finalists.
  • 2017/18. Champions.
  • 2016/17. Champions.
  • 2015/16. Champions.
  • 2014/15. Champions.
  • 2013/14. Finalists.
  • 2012/13. Eliminated in the semifinals.
  • 2011/12. Champions.
  • 2010/11. Finalists.
  • 2009/10. Eliminated in the Round of 16.
  • 2008/09. Champions.
  • 2007/08. Eliminated in the semifinals.
  • 2006/07. Eliminated in the semifinals.

Today's qualification means a historical record for the club, as this is the 60th time Barça have been this far in the competition, more than any other team. Real Madrid are second with 57.

Barça will draw Sevilla, Levante or Betis / Athletic Club in the semi-finals. The draw will take place on Friday and two more matches - as the semifinal is two-legged - will be added to a tight schedule. The first leg will be in February, but the return leg won't be until March.
