PREVIEW | Valladolid v FC Barcelona

Barça head into their final away game of 2020 looking to extend their run of unbeaten matches against an opponent that have won just once against the blaugranes in 13 years

Ronald Koeman’s side are unbeaten in their last three matches, and head into their final away game of 2020 looking for three points to keep them in touch with the teams at the top of the table.

Valladolid’s only win against Barça in the last 13 years came way back in March 2014, but recent victories over Athletic Club, Granada and Osasuna, as well as a draw in their last match at Sevilla, hint at a difficult match in prospect.

Head to head

Since 2007, Barça have played Valladolid on no less than 14 occasions, winning all but two: a 1-1 draw in 2007 and a 1-0 loss in 2014. Of the 12 Barça wins, seven have seen at least three goals from the Catalans, and there’s not been a goalless draw in all that time.

Team news

For this match, Ronald Koeman has named a 21-man squad:

Ter Stegen, Dest, R. Araujo, Sergio, Aleñá, Griezmann, Pjanic, Braithwaite, Messi, Riqui Puig, Neto, Coutinho, Lenglet, Pedri, Trincao, Jordi Alba, F. De Jong, Umtiti, Junior, Iñaki Peña and O. Mingueza.

Piqué, O. Dembélé, S. Roberto and Ansu Fati remain on the injury list, whilst Matheus hasn't made the squad.

Koeman said

“I think above all we have to be consistent. We have to be better with the ball and without the ball. Above all to have maximum focus.”

“The most important thing is being consistent. To have fewer ups and downs and get better.”
