FC Barcelona to face Real Sociedad in Spanish Super Cup semi final

The game will be played on Wednesday 13 January in Córdoba, Spain

FC Barcelona now know who they will be playing in the 2021 Spanish Super Cup. The draw took place on Thursday at the headquarters of the Spanish FA and it has paired the blaugranes with Real Sociedad, one of the finalists from the 2019/20 season. 

The semi final will be played on 13 January at the Nuevo Arcángel stadium in Córdoba with the other semi final between Athletic Club and Real Madrid taking place on 14 January in La Rosaleda stadium in Málaga. 

Barça will come up against the side they defeated at Camp Nou on Wednesday in La Liga thanks to first half goals from Jordi Alba and Frenkie de Jong. 

The four teams competing for the Spanish Super Cup title are at the two finalists from the still to be played 2020 Copa del Rey final, Real Sociedad and Athletic Club Bilbao, as well as the current La Liga champions Real Madrid and runners-up FC Barcelona. 

Barça Women up against Atlético 

The draw for the women's Spanish Super Cup also took place and the competition will follow the same format with Barça drawn against Atlético Madrid. The blaugranes' semi final will take place on 13 January in the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos in Almería in Andalusia with the other semi final between Levante and Logroño being played on 12 January. 

The women's final will take place on Saturday 16 January in Almería.
