The third episode in the ORIGINS series, available on the FC Barcelona streaming service, BarçaTV+, stars the new Portuguese striker Francisco Trincão. This unique film takes the viewer back to his origins in Viana do Castelo (Portugal), where he was born on 29 December 1999, and looks at how he grew up to become a professional and eventually sign for Barça this summer.
Produced by Barça Studios, today’s release is the third in the series on Barça TV+, where it is available on demand in Catalan, Spanish and English. It will also be appearing shortly on the club’s traditional channel, Barça TV, on TDT in Catalonia and on subscription channels elsewhere in Spain.
The documentary was recorded this summer at various locations in Portugal that have played a part in Trincão’s life, such as his hometown and Braga, where he rose through the ranks at SC Braga. Barça Studios also spent time in these cities interviewing the player and his family, as well as his friends, coaches and team-mates, all of whom had interesting details to share about the player’s life. These unique testimonies give us a glimpse of the footballer’s more personal, intimate side and tell us more about his rise to fame in the football world.
“As long as I can remember I have had a ball at my feet and that’s where my passion came from” says Trincão to the camera, declaring his love for football and his ambition to learn and get to play at the very highest level. His coaches and other people close to him confirm this when they speak about his dreams, qualities and perseverance.
The 35-minute documentary also looks at some of the more difficult stages of his career, such as the way he struggled at SC Braga to adapt to the move up from the second to the first team.
The ORIGINS series, which has already included episodes about Arthur and Umtiti, is produced by Barça Studios, the FC Barcelona audiovisual factory whose other projects have included the documentary series Matchday, about the Barça first team in the 2018/19 season, the movie The Awakening, a fictional series based on La Masia scripted by Albert Espinosa and the Talent Explorers animated series, the latter two still in production.
ORIGINS is part of the so-called ORIGINALS category on offer via the Barça TV+ platform that FC Barcelona launched last June 3. It is available worldwide on the club website and app, and for all devices (tablet, smartphone and PC). Thanks to cast technology, it can also be viewed on a SmartTV or on a traditional television using Chromecast.
