On 28 April 1999 Barça faced Brazil at Camp Nou as part of the Club's centenary celebrations

The main event in the celebrations for FC Barcelona's centenary came on 28 April 1999 when Barça faced a Brazil XI at Camp Nou in front of 80,000 fans.

Prior to the game a grand total of 250 of the 329 former Barça players still alive came out on to the field thanks to the tireless efforts of 81 year old former blaugrana Josep Valle and the Barça Veterans Group. On the same day the new facade of the main stand at Camp Nou was unveiled with the names of each of the more than a thousand players who had played for FC Barcelona during its 100 year history.

As for the game itself, it ended in a 2-2 draw with Luis Enrique and Cocu scoring for the blaugranes and Ronaldo and Rivaldo finding the net for Brazil. The two teams that day were:

FC Barcelona: Hesp (Arnau, 46'), Reiziger (Navidad, 79'), Abelardo, Frank de Boer, Sergi, Luis Enrique, Guardiola (Xavi, 46'), Cocu (Roger, 64'), Figo, Kluivert (Sonny Anderson, 46') and Zenden.
