Kids Activities: Design your T-Shirt
At the Barça Foundation we have designed some activities for children to enjoy at home whilst learning key skills such as effort and determination!
TIME: Between 15 and 30 minutes
Do you like fashion?
Do you want to be a fashion designer when you grow up?
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
- A white T-shirt
- colored pencils
- Parchment paper
- An iron
- A pencil sharpener
- Newspaper
STEPS
- Lay your t-shirt flat and place the newspaper inside to separate the front and the back. This will prevent the colors from going through to the back.
- Sharpen the colored pencils over the T-shirt. Spread the shavings over all the areas that you want color on the T-shirt.
- We recommend that you keep changing colors and combining them as you like.
- When you have spread all the shavings on the T-shirt the way you like, take the parchment paper and cover the T-shirt with it.
- Now is the time to ask your parents for help. They need to turn the iron on,, and when it is really hot, place it on the parchment paper for a few seconds. The heat will melt the colored shavings and they will stick to the T-shirt.
If you liked the result and you want to become a real expert on this technique, we recommend you make a template of your favorite drawing on paper.
Then you can fill the template with colored pencil shavings, and this way you will be able to decorate the T-shirt with the designs you like best!
