Puyol and Xavi, classics in The Clasico

Carles Puyol and Xavi Hernández are classics in The Clasico. Together with Migueli, they hold the record of 25 appearances in the league against Real Madrid – more than any other Barça player. They are followed by  César (24), Rexach, Rifé, Segarra (21), Asensi (19) and Zubizarreta (18).

Of those 25 games, Xavi and Puyol have been on the winning side ten times, with seven draws and eight defeats. Puyol has scored once and Xavi four times.

Xavi holds record in all competitions

In all competitions, Xavi has played a total of 37 games against Real Madrid  - five more than Puyol, with Segarra(31), Migueli (30) and César (28) behind them.

Real Madrid’s Raul and Hierro also played 37 times in a Clasico , with Sanchís (43) and Gento (42) ahead of them, but rapidly coming into Xavi’s sights.
