The blaugranes win again at Real Madrid's ground to continue their excellent form against their eternal rivals
Another win for FC Barcelona in the Santiago Bernabéu as the ‘Clásico’ in Madrid is becoming synonymous with blaugrana wins. It is four seasons in a row now that Barça have won at Real Madrid in the league, a feat that no other team has ever achieved. Atlético Madrid managed three wins between 2013 and 2016 but nobody had reached four in a row until now.
Added to those wins is this week’s other win the Bernabéu which came in the Copa del Rey and which has allowed the blaugranes to reach a sixth consecutive final in the competition. Furthermore, in La Liga Barça are now 12 points ahead of their eternal rivals.
The current run of league wins at Real Madrid began back in the 2015/16 season with a 4-0 win that contained Andrés Iniesta’s memorable goal. The following season Leo Messi’s 500th goal for Barça gave Luis Enrique’s team a famous last minute win.
With Ernesto Valverde as boss the success in the Bernabéu has continued. Last season goals from Luis Suárez, Leo Messi and Aleix Vidal gave Barça a 3-0 win. This season, after winning 5-1 at Camp Nou, Barça have won in the league in Madrid once again to extend the run that started in 2015.
