Line Røddik Hansen will be playing for FC Barcelona’s women’s team in the 2016/17 season. The 28 year old left-sided full or centre back has arrived from European champion club Olympique Lyon, where she has played for the last year and a half. Before that, the Danish international was at Rosengard (2014-16), Tyresö (2010-14) and Brondby (2007-2010).
Voted Denmark’s player of the year in 2010, she has over one hundred caps for her country.
Røddik Hansen passed her medical at the FCB Medical Services this Friday morning and after that signed her new contract.
She is the fifth new addition to the squad this summer, following on from Andressa Alves (Montpellier), Leila Ouahabi (Valencia), Andrea Giménez (Espanyol) and Aitana Bonmatí, who was promoted from the B team.
After putting pen to paper, they player said “I am very happy. FC Barcelona is a fantastic club and I have a very special feeling about this. It’s a dream come true. I know all about the club’s long history and have seen the women playing in a few games. I like their style of play and tactics, they like to keep possession of the ball. I’m really looking forward to playing here.”
“I play both at centre back and left back, and I think I’m good at playing the ball out of defence. The switch from Sweden to France was a big one. I developed as a person and as a player at Olympique Lyon. That’s what happens when you play alongside the best in the world every day.”
