Established as one of the world's best goalkeepers, the Navarrese player of Russian descent brings experience and reliability between the posts

Barça and Sergey Hernández reached an agreement for the goalkeeper to join the Club from the summer of 2026, arriving in the prime of his career and established as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

The Navarrese player of Russian descent thus returned to the Liga Asobal with Barça after representing Anaitasuna (2015–2018), Logroño La Rioja (2018–2020), Benfica (2020–2023) and Magdeburg (2023–2026) during his professional career.

The goalkeeper also arrived with an impressive list of honours, including the EHF Champions League (2025), the Bundesliga (2024), the German Cup (2024), the IHF Club World Championship (2023) and the EHF European League (2022).

He is also a Spain international and has won a silver medal at the European Championship (2022) and a bronze medal at the World Championship (2021).
