Barça fans are missing Aitana Bonmatí, the current Ballon d'Or of women's football. The blaugrana midfielder is still recovering from a broken leg and at an event for the promotion of the charity 'Relats Solidaris de l'Esport' publication, the Catalan star explained that she is feeling "better every day".
Of the charity she explained: "It has been a pleasure to form part of this initiative and helping Ramassà [the beneficiary]. I have known them for a long time and I know the work they do. It's always a pleasure to contribute to a better world." Board Member Àngel Riudalbàs also attended the 20th edition of the Relats Solidaris de l'Esport (Solidarity Stories of Sport).
Return getting closer
After the announcement of a total of €62,625.71 collected for AE Ramassà, a club who works towards integrating young women recently arrived in Catalonia, Aitana answered questions from the press. She admitted that her injury will keep her out for 4-5 months but right now she is "more than half way through the process."
As for return, Aitana admitted, "I don't have an exact date, it will depend on how I go and how I can deal with the pain. But I hope it is sooner rather than later."
The blaugrana is trying to be positive about the whole experience. "It's bringing some good things. The injury is making me come into the city [Barcelona] more and I am dedicating more time to Barça by being a fan," continued Aitana.
Return to Spotify Camp Nou will have to wait
The women's team will make their return to Spotify Camp Nou on 2 April against Real Madrid in the Champions League. "I was very excited about coming back but I know the day will come and I hope to enjoy it," said of Aitana about missing the team's return to the famous stadium.
"We are up against a well known rival and we have played against them on several occasions and that is in our favour. There will be three Clásicos in a short space of time but you never get tired of playing against Real Madrid - the more the better," concluded Aitana on the upcoming European clash.
