Villarreal CF 0-6 FC Barcelona Women: Big win on the road
A comfortable 0-6 win for Barça Women away to Villarreal CF. A brace from Aitana and Oshoala, plus goals by Salma Paralluelo and Graham Hansen keep the Catalans first in Liga F, with the first Champions League game against Benfica on the horizon.
Ballon d'Or winner strikes first
Barça started by controlling proceedings as is the norm, with Villarreal waiting for counter attacks. Pina had the first chance saved before Aitana Bonmatí twisted and turned in the box before firing past a diving Carbonell after 14 minutes. After further chances for Claudia Pina and Oshoala, the latter latched onto a great cross from the left by Ona Batlle for her fourth goal of the season after 24 minutes. The rest of the half saw few chances but Mckenna had the first shot for the home side but it didn't end up troubling Cata Coll in the Catalans' goal. Half-time 0-2.
Four more goals for Barça after the break
More of the same after the break and Aitana soon slotted home her second (0-3, min 50) after a great run and one-two with Salma by Ona Batlle. Jonatan Giráldez appeared to want to keep up the pressure, bringing on three big guns in Alexia, Mariona and Hansen, which bore fruit with another goal after 77 minutes, Salma Paralluelo scoring after a great lofted pass by Mariona.
The fifth goal was somewhat fortunate, a Graham Hansen free kick deflecting off the Villarreal wall into the far corner of the goal (0-5, min 82) and then Oshoala seized on a rebound from an Alexia shot to head the sixth and her second after good work by Graham Hansen down the right (0-6, min 85). Next up in the Liga F no less than a home match against Real Madrid at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
