Aitana Bonmati has been named best player of the 2022/23 UEFA Women's Champions League season, as selected by the UEFA team of Technical Observers. In 11 games in this year's edition, the Barça number 14 scored five goals and gave eight assists on the way to her team's second title.
It was her cross that Patri converted to level up the final in Eindhoven. It is the second year in a row that a Barça player has collected the accolade., with Alexia Putellas winning the award last season.
Barça dominance
Six of the eleven players in the team of the season came from FC Barcelona. These were Lucy Bronce, Irene Paredes, María León, Aitana, Patri Guijarro and Caroline Graham Hansen.
The other selections were Frohms, Oberdorf, Pajor and Popp (all of beaten finalists Wolfsburg) and McCabe (Arsenal).
