The best right back in Barça history is unrivalled in terms of experience, goalscoring and many other qualities
On 12 November 2021, Dani Alves returned to Barça. The best right-back in club history was back to contribute experience in both defence and attack.
He originally joined the club in 2008 and made the right-hand side of defence his own in 391 games, even scoring 23 goals. He amassed 23 trophies at the club, including six leagues, four cups, and three Champions Leagues.
After leaving in 2016, he won two more league titles with Juventus, and also won six major trophies at Paris Saint-Germain and another for São Paulo.
He has also won six trophies for Brazil, including gold at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Infinite qualities at right back
Defence is Alves’ position, but he best remembered for his forays into the attack in the Brazilian wing-back tradition, and his ability to score from outside of the area means he regarded as one of the best players of all time in his position. Under Pep Guardiola, Tito Vilanova, Tata Martino and Luis Enrique he was a regular started who won the hearts of the Barça faithful for his dedication and character on and off the pitch. He is wonderful combination player, has a powerful shot, has excellent positional sense, and plenty of skill and speed with the ball.
