Hansi Flick: 'I don't want to break records, I want to win matches'
Barça coach Hansi Flick likes to take things day by day. The German appeared before the press ahead of Wednesday's visit of Racing Santander to Spotify Camp Nou to dismiss interest in a possible record start to a campaign with seven wins in seven matches. "I don't want to break records, I want to win matches," said the blaugrana boss.
"We always focus on the next game. Now we have an important match against a side who are playing really well. Racing attack spaces well and follow the second ball really well. It won't be easy," added Flick.
Spotify Camp Nou, Champions League final venue
Flick was also asked about Spotify Camp Nou being named as the venue for the 2029 Champions League final. "It's good news for the Club and it's a dream for us to be in that final. It will be spectacular," reacted the coach.
Ballon d'Or debate
Asked about the Ballon d'Or award following Lamine Yamal's declaration that he believes he deserves to win it, Hansi Flick had his say. "I am only talking about Lamine Yamal, not Kylian Mbappé. Lamine Yamal is honest and confident and he has had a great start to the season. He want to win the Ballon d'Or, which is normal for a player. I will support him," said the German.
Furthermore, on the subject of the Barça number 10, Flick added "he has got into really good shape" before pointing out that the team is creating a lot of chances for Lamine at a time in which "he has great confidence in his own finishing."
