The fans have spoken. And they have decided that Raphinha was La Liga's best player in August. The award was decided by a vote on La Liga's official website, with the Brazilian recognised as the competition's standout performer in the opening month of the season.
Pichichi quality
During August, Raphael Dias Belloli, to give him his full name, scored five goals and provided one assist. Those figures took him to the top of the scoring charts and proved vital to FC Barcelona's perfect start, with the team winning every game in the opening month of the campaign. He also found the net in all three matches, against Elche (2), Athletic Club (1) and Rayo Vallecano (2).
Personal best
Raphinha was on target again in the first game of September, against Valencia at Mestalla. That made him only the sixth player in Barça history to score in each of the first four La Liga games of a season, following César Rodríguez (1950/51), Kubala (1953/54), Cayetano Ré (1964/65), Zlatan Ibrahimović (2009/10) and Cesc Fàbregas (2011/12).
It is the second time the Brazilian forward has won the award, with his previous success also coming in August, back in 2024. Raphinha succeeds Lamine Yamal, who won the final award of last season.
Barça dominance
FC Barcelona have won the award more times than any other club, with 24 wins by eight different players. Leo Messi leads the way for Barça with eight, followed by Lamine Yamal (4), Luis Suárez (4) and Robert Lewandowski (3).
