Dani Olmo first goalscorer of the year
The Barça midfielder gets the opener in the blaugranes' 2-0 win in the derby away at Espanyol
The year 2026 is under way and Dani Olmo was the man who scored the first goal of the new calendar year for the blaugranes. In recent seasons the opener has often come in the Copa del Rey but this season it was a league encounter against Espanyol that saw Barça find the net for the first time since the turn of the year.
In 2025 it was Eric Garcia who found the net first in a cup tie against Barbastro with Jules Kounde scoring the first in the league against Getafe. Going further back it was Ferran Torres in 2024, Araujo in 2023, Luuk de Jong in 2022, Frenkie de Jong in 2021, Luis Suárez in 2020 and, of course, Leo Messi in 2019 who took the honour.
