There was great news at Tuesday's Barça training session ahead of the cup game at Mestalla on Thursday at 9.30pm CET. Just over two weeks after hurting his right soleus, Dani Olmo was able to partially resume work with the rest of the squad, joining his team-mates for some of the morning exercises.
The player has been fighting hard to get back to full fitness, although no announcement has been made as to whether he will play any part in a big week for the team. The cup game will be followed by a tough trip to Sevilla's Sánchez Pizjuán in the league, where Barça will be hoping to take advantage of the inevitable loss of points by one of the two teams above them, as Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid meet in the derby.
Gavi in the gym
There are also question marks concerning Gavi, who suffered cranioencephalic trauma following a nasty clash of heads in the game with Alavés at the weekend. Tests have happily confirmed that there is no major cause for concern, but he will be carefully monitored and the doctors have advised caution. Therefore, while his colleagues were working out on the Tito Vilanova field at the Ciutat Esportiva, the midfielder exercised in isolation in the gym.
