One year since Robert Lewandowski was presented

Miami was the venue for the unveiling of the Polish striker on 20 July 2022

How times flies. It is exactly a year since 19 July 2022, the day Robert Lewandowski's move from Bayern Munich to Barça was finally made official, and the day after he was presented as the first Polish player in club history.

Not in Barcelona

Spotify Camp Nou is the usual venue for such events, but not in this case. The sixth floor of hotel Conrad, Fort Lauderdale (Miami) is not the kind of place you would normally associate with Barça player presentations, but as the team was in the middle of its US tour, that's what happened.

First appearance

Four days later, Lewandowski was in the team that faced Real Madrid in Las Vegas, Raphinha scoring the only goal of a 1-0 win.

His first goal came at Spotify Camp Nou on 7 August 2022 in the Joan Gamper Trophy against Pumas. He scored twice in a 6-0 win.

Wonderful first year

And so it continued. In fact, the 32 goals he scored in his first year had only been bettered in the past by Ronaldo Nazário (47) and Hans Krankl (35) in a debut year for the club. 23 of those goals were scored in La Liga, enough to win the Pichichi trophy at the first time of asking.

He also got to lift two trophies. He scored in both the semi final and final of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia, and his goals were also one of the main reasons why Barça ended up winning the Spanish championship.
