Speaking to the RFEF, the FC Barcelona striker looks back at an injury-troubled season and stresses the important role played by his family in his recovery process
In an official interview with the Spanish football federation, Ansu Fati has spoken about the season just ended and especially the injury troubles that he has finally put behind him.
“I am very happy to be back playing for Spain and very grateful to Luis Enrique for the opportunity” said the 19-year-old, who is in the squad for four UEFA Nations League fixtures in early June.
Speaking about his injury, he said that “my family are the ones who suffered most throughout this process and they have been fundamental for me."
“It has been a hard journey” he continued. “But my mentality was always to get over it. From a very young age my life has been about dealing with difficulties and misfortune, and this will also help me to mature and grow. I am working hard and trying to change habits, and I think that will be good for me.”
Ansu was unable to play at the European Championship, but was impressed by the Spanish team. “I would have loved to have been there” he said. “But we did very well and it was just bad luck that prevented us from winning it. As for the World Cup, it would be a dream to go and I’ll keep working hard for it, but that decision ultimately comes down to the boss.
