Aubameyang retires from Gabon national team

After earning 68 caps and scoring 29 goals, the FC Barcelona forward decides to end his international career

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has decided to put an end to his international career. The Barça striker is retiring from the Gabon national team for which he has made 68 appearances and scored 29 goals.

That makes him his country’s highest goalscorer of all time. ‘Auba’ has appeared at four African Cups of Nations (2010, 2012, 2015 and 2017) and at the London Olympics of 2012.

He made his debut in a 2-1 defeat of Morocco in 2009, scoring the winner himself. His final game for Gabon will therefore be the one against Libya last 12 November 2021, in which he scored the only goal from the penalty spot.
