The wait continues but the countdown is on. In exactly a month's time, on 25 May, the FC Barcelona first team will be in Australia for the first time in their history to play a friendly against a team of the best players from Australian's football league, the Australian League All Stars.
The match will be played at the Accor Stadium in Sydney, with a capacity for 80,000 spectators. Xavi Hernández's team will travel to Australia once their league season is over and will return straight after the match.
The friendly will be the first ever between the blaugranes and an Australian side, as well as being their first ever trip to the country. The Barça first team has never had a player or a coach from the country that is the sixth largest in the world. The club's basketball has had Australian players over the years with the likes of David Andersen, Joe Ingles and Nathan Jawai having represented Barça and one of the stars of the current squad, Dante Exum, is also Australian.
This friendly is part of a special week in the Australian soccer calendar, taking place just three days before the A-League final.
The historic encounter can be watched under subscription on Barça TV+, FC Barcelona’s streaming platform.
