The future scores goals

FC Barcelona's last six goals have all been score by players aged 22 or less

Football is such a great sport because it is so unpredictable. Who would have said three months ago that players like Gavi, Ez Abde, Nico and Jutglà would be key figures in the Barça side? Their emergence, helped by the squad's injury problems, has led them to be the leaders of this blaugrana team under Xavi Hernández, especially when it comes to scoring goals.

In fact Barça's last six goals have been scored by this great future generation of players. Against Osasuna 19 year old Nico and 20 year old Ez Abde were on target for the blaugranes. Against Elche the goalscorers were Gavi, 17 years old, Jutglà, 22 years old and Nico once again. Against Sevilla on Tuesday it was the turn of 22 year old Ronald Araujo to find the net in the 1-1 draw.

In total, the last six goals by Xavi's team have been scored by players aged 22 or less. Araujo aside, none of them had ever played for the first team six months ago.

Record number of shots against Sevilla

The game against Sevilla was a sign of the team's improving form. Barça produced 23 shots, 7 on target, a record this season for the blaugranes. Up until Tuesday their best performance was against Levante with a total of 20 shots, another sign that this young side is going from strength to strength.
