Dani Alves to wear FC Barcelona number 8 shirt

In his second spell as a blaugrana the Brazilian adds another shirt number to his Barça collection, the same one he wore at Sevilla

Dani Alves will wear the number 8 shirt on his return to FC Barcelona. This will the fifth different jersey number for the right back in his time with the Club, a number that has been worn by names such as Andrés Iniesta, Ludovic Giuly, Hristo Stoichkov and Guillermo Amor.

Second spell, fifth shirt number

"I return as excited as I was the first time," explained the Brazilian when it was announced that he would be coming back to the blaugranes. When he first came to the Club in the summer of 2008 he was given the number 20 jersey. The following four seasons he occupied the number 2 shirt before adopting the number 22 as a tribute to his team mate Éric Abidal. In his final seasons in his first spell he adopted the number 6 shirt following the departure of the man who is now his coach at Barça, Xavi Hernández.

In his second spell he will proudly wear the number 8 shirt, one previously worn by the likes of Guillermo Amor, Hristo Stoichkov, Albert Celades, Phillip Cocu, Andrés Iniesta, Arthur Melo and Miralem Pjanic.

It will not be the first time that Dani Alves has worn the number as it was his shirt for two seasons during his time at Sevilla. The Brazilian is back in the shirt once again, only this time, as he has always wanted, at FC Barcelona.
