Training match against AE Prat

Mixture of senior and reserve team players beat the fourth tier side 2-1 in a Wednesday morning friendly

With Saturday’s game against Sevilla postponed, the first team played a training match on Wednesday morning against RFEF Division 2 side AE Prat, a chance to keep the players in the right rhythm ahead of next Tuesday’s opening Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich.

The players that are not away on international duty were joined by some from Barça B for the game on the Tito Vilanova field at the Ciutat Esportiva that ended 2-1 to Barça with goals from Coutinho and Balde.

The game was an especially useful chance for Luuk de Jong to settle into his new team, and also for Philippe Coutinho and Óscar Mingueza to get some playing time after being absent due to injuries.

The reserve team players that joined the first teamers were Nico, Comas, Zacarias, Matheus, Peque Polo, Lucas de Vega, Jutglà, Balde and Gavi, the latter two fresh back from playing for the Spain U19 and U18 teams.

Gerard Piqué and Ansu Fati sat this one out and did individual exercises on pitch 2.

The next workout is scheduled for 10.15am CEST Thursday, again at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
