Leo Messi, 15 x 15

His goal against Rayo Vallecano means that for the 15th season in a row, the Argentinian has scored at least 15 goals

Barça’s 2-1 win at Vallecas in the Copa del Rey left plenty of stats worth savouring.

Leo Messi keeps scoring

The Argentinian scored the first of Barça’s goals yesterday and his 15th of the season so far. Amazingly, that’s now 15 consecutive seasons in which he’s scored at least 15 goals, on the same night that he surpassed Josep Samitier to become the Barça player with the most appearances in the cup.

Another quarter final!

Barça have made into the last eight of the Copa del Rey in 22 of their last 23 attempts. Only Sevilla have managed to knock the blaugrana out earlier, in 2010. Barça have progressed on 40 of the 42 occasions when they have faced second division teams.

De Jong the goal-getter

The Dutch midfielder has truly found his goalscoring touch with four in his last seven outings – an amazing improvement on his three goals in all 62 of his previous games in the blaugrana jersey.

Assistance from Jordi Alba and Griezmann

Alba has made an impressive seven assists in all competitions this term, more than any other Barça player or defender in La Liga. And Griezmann has set up goals in four of his last seven games, the same number as in all 64 of his other matches for Barça. The kind of stats that suggest things are just getting better and better!
