Griezmann's goal against Villarreal is the winner of the ‘Goal of the season’
The first year of 'Goal of the Month' is over, completed by crowning the winner of the 'Goal of the season'. After a few months of the competition, in which users from all domains of the official website of FC Barcelona voted for their favourite goal of that particular month, this August has seen the voting public choosing the best of the best.
Antoine Griezmann's fantastic finish, in the 1-4 win against Villarreal at the Estadio de la Ceràmica last July, came out on top. It was a great goal in which the French player chipped the ball over Sergio Asenjo after a Lionel Messi assist.
Griezmann, therefore, has been chosen ahead of the goal scored by Messi against Granada (winner of the 'Goal of the Month' in January) and the Argentine's goal against Eibar (best goal of February), as well as Suárez's goal against Celta (chosen in June)
'Goal of the Month' is an initiative that arose to coincide with the beginning of 2020 and that consists of finding the best goal of the month among four worthy candidates. Fans voted for their favourite goal in an action that was repeated at the end of each month. During the time that the competition stopped because of the coronavirus, a historic edition was made, for the best ever goals scored during March, April and May.
