L'Hospitalet 1-2 Barça Atlètic: First preseason victory
A win for Barça Atlètic against CE L'Hospitalet (1-2) in the third preseason game played at Camp d'Esports de L'Hospitalet. Juliano Belletti's side controlled the play and most of the possesion, doing most of the work to claim the victory in the first half with goals by Ignasi Quer and Shane Kluivert.
Attack from the off
The blaugranes went straight on the attack. Hospitalet were sitting back and playing on the counter, but the visitors still managed to find the space to create chances.
Shane Kluivert stood out in the first 45 minutos. He had the ball in the net after nine minutes, but it was ruled out for offside. Just five minutes later, the winger beat his marker to cross for an unmarked Ignasi Quer to make it 0-1. L'Hospitalet reacted and pushed on themselves, but Juliano Belletti's side continued to play their game, and Shane Kluivert later made the most of a defensive error to finish well on 35 minutes and it was 0-2 at the break.
Substitutions, but more of the same
Juliano Belletti replaced most of the side at half time, with only Landry, Ybarra and Quer remaining, however the script didn't change. Barça continued to have possession and were making inroads into the home side's area. Joni Hernández proved lively on the right, but a third goal didn't come.
L'Hospitalet get one back and Caicedo debut
Barça Atlètic continued to dominate the ball, but were creating fewer good chances to extend their lead now. A mistake in defense then allowed Jamal Khodr to score to make it 1-2 after 80 minutes.
The second half saw Josué Caicedo make his debut at left back after 60 minutes, getting his first minutes in blaugrana. He didn't have much to do in defence, but he was very alert without the ball and showed well in attack.
Win to breed confidence
This first preseason win for Barça Atlètic will prove positive as preparations continue, with more training at the Ciutat Esportiva and two more friendlies this week against Europa and Reus to come.
